There’s something magical about fall in Tennessee, and spending time with families at a beautiful apple orchard in Chattanooga was no exception! The soft autumn light, the scent of apples filling the air, and the joy of capturing families making memories were truly a dream come true. Despite Hurricane Helene’s unexpected arrival, which led to a slight schedule change, everything came together in the most perfect way.
The rescheduled day was filled with golden sunlight that peeked through the apple trees, framing every moment in a warm, natural glow that only enhanced the beauty of each family’s laughter and connection. I’m excited to share a little sneak peek with you today!
Photographing families at an apple orchard in Chattanooga is one of my favorite ways to capture the essence of the fall season. Each year, these sessions bring out natural smiles, playful moments, and genuine joy that feel so unique in an orchard setting. Watching parents lift their little ones to reach an apple, siblings laughing together, and couples enjoying a quiet moment between the trees adds an authentic quality to every photograph.
This season, there was an extra layer of gratitude on my part. My family knows all too well the long hours of photographing weddings, where my husband, Jimmy, and I would be away for entire weekends. Jimmy was also a second shooter in our wedding photography business, meaning we both were gone long enough that our son, Beckett, had to spend nights with family or friends – sometimes one or two nights in a row. While we were grateful to capture beautiful weddings for couples, it was bittersweet missing bedtime routines and tucking him in at night.
Now, with sessions like these at the orchard, I can still do what I love while making it home by evening. This shift in our family routine has made an incredible difference, allowing me to be there for Beckett in a way that wedding season didn’t always allow.
As much as I’d love to share a gallery of these beautiful moments, many of the families are planning to use these photos as surprises for their holiday cards. For that reason, I’m only sharing a small preview here. I know these images will look stunning on Christmas cards, arriving in loved ones’ mailboxes and spreading joy across family and friends. It’s one of my favorite parts of the season – helping families create and capture memories that they can share in such a meaningful way.
From golden hour glows to laughter-filled shots, this year’s apple orchard sessions have left me grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing families. Each family brought their unique energy and love, which shines through in the photos. I feel lucky to play a small role in capturing their memories and appreciate every family who joined me in this experience!

If you’ve been considering family photos this fall or holiday season, I’d be honored to capture your family’s memories. There’s no better time to preserve these moments, and nothing brings more joy than seeing these photos light up the faces of family and friends.
