I’ll never forget the day I realized asking kids to sit still and “say cheese” for even 10 minutes is just no fun for anyone. That moment totally changed my approach!
Back when I was just starting out, I was still figuring out how to freeze those quick kiddo movements, get genuine engagement, and fumble through camera settings—all while not yet a mom myself who couldn’t quite relate the same yet.
Over time, mastering my manual settings became second nature, and I started exploring the magic of playful posing. A lot of my approach pulls from my background as a social worker, where I used play therapy to connect with kids.
Now, during photo sessions, I can spot that exact moment when kids realize they’re allowed to move, play, and just be themselves. The pressure melts away, and that’s where the best photos happen.
I saw that approach come to life with the Jackson family’s session recently—so much movement, laughter, and play, mixed with those sweet formal shots everyone wants. You want to lay down in the leaves? Cool, that may actually be a cool background. You want to throw the leaves? Even better. You want to pop a squat in the middle of the path? Sure, I’ll capture the little details of your little face so no one can tell what you’re actually doing haha!
If you’ve held back from booking a session because you’re worried about how your little one will act, I totally get it. But trust me, we’ll capture the magic and make it a blast for everyone!
My calendar’s almost closed for the year, and fall colors are just peaking in some areas and falling off in others! E-mail me if you’re interested, and I’ll send over my availability and pricing details ASAP! 🍁📸
