Being a mom of the cutest little boy, I am always looking for family fun events and activities around the area. Finding Flat Top Mountain Farm is the biggest year-round win!
This farm is not just family-friendly but is rooted in family! The land is run by the Hughes. They are the same family from when the farm was first established on Flat Top Mountain in the 1820’s. While what the family farms and offers have changed many times through the years when you visit you can absolutely feel the generations of love in maintaining the land!
Year-round, you can find endless beauty. In the spring and summer, flowers fill the land. The farm has acres of sunflowers. It is truly a sight to see! You can even view the sunflowers on a scenic hayride through the fields. With the endless sunflower fields and a variety of other flowers, the viewing of bees and butterflies at work in the fields is marvelous. The farm encourages scavenger hunts for kids to find all the different types of pollinators that are across the farm. There is also an abundance of greenery and plants on the land too. Connect with nature and have the entire family go on a plant identification adventure – a perfect spring and summertime afternoon.
In the fall, Flat Top Mountain Farm transforms into a harvest getaway! Shop for your pumpkins or check out the corn maze which changes themes each year. You can spend hours having fall fun! We love hay rides in our family and the Flat Top Mountain Farm hayride does not disappoint.
When winter begins rolling in, Flat Top Mountain Farm again transforms! It is hard to even say what takes center stage in this winter wonderland. Pre-cut Christmas trees are available, alongside other Christmas necessities from local vendors. The tree farm is seriously like a Hallmark movie! Imagine sitting around a bonfire eating s’mores and drinking hot chocolate and apple cider. Santa and Mrs. Claus even make an appearance during the Christmas season. For something super special for the family, Flat Top Mountain Farm partners with Blackoak Carriage for carriage rides with Santa!
With all that is available to do, the opportunities for photos are endless! This makes Flat Top Mountain Farm such a great setting for a family portrait session. Not only do I have a knack for getting kids to be super engaged throughout shoots, but the abundance of opportunities on Flat Top Mountain Farm gives us many places to capture treasured family photos. Whether you’re opting for a Christmas vibe for your holiday card or want sunny summer images among the sunflowers, or pumpkin patch photos, there are great opportunities for your family! I even appreciate how interactive photo shoots can be with families since this is truly a working farm! And even though it is a working farm, photographers are able to be on the property before and after hours! That means sunrise and sunset photoshoots and I am here for both golden hours!
Consider making your next weekend family outing to Flat Top Mountain Farm and see why it’s not only so much fun for the family, but great to consider for your next family portrait session!
