HISTORY & VIEWS
National Register of Historic Places. Need I say more? The Turnbull Building is the ultimate dreamy wedding venue dripping with historic architectural details at the once Turnbull Cone & Machine Company site in beautiful Chattanooga. Yes, that’s right. Cone Machine Company, as in ice cream cones! If you love an industrial-style venue with rich history, you will appreciate all that The Turnbull offers for your wedding day.
A local architecture firm was brought in to restore the warehouse into a premier event space for Chattanooga. Working hard to keep history intact, black steel-framed windows kept their original prominence but were replaced with new glass. Wood beam ceilings, exposed brick, and even a spiral staircase leading to a picturesque loft that is perfect for cocktails, a DJ, or some fun images for your bridal party and your guests. And those gorgeous windows from this old ice cream cone and machine factory display stunning views of Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain! Between the historic southside and riverfront views, you truly have your pick of some of Chattanooga’s best spots for incredible wedding day photos. I am betting your guests will love taking in some of Chattanooga’s most famous scenery too.
THE SPACE
Having two floors available gives you, your bridal party, and guests plenty of space to mix and mingle during your wedding day. With a quick changeover from Turnbull Chattanooga’s incredible staff, you can go from ceremony to cocktail hour to dinner in a breeze! The space accommodates up to 300 guests, which is perfect for those large weddings. Even if you are looking for a smaller, more intimate gathering, The Turnbull works with you to make the space uniquely yours.
There is a getting-ready suite on the upstairs floor, which allows at least one side of the bridal party to remain on-site! This room is spacious and filled with natural light, which means I can get stunning portraits of the bridal getting into her dress or the groom doing final touches to his tuxedo before heading out!
If you are concerned about inclement weather on your wedding day, the Turnbull is all indoors, so you completely eliminate that factor! For some brides, this is non-negotiable! The spaciousness, huge windows, and unique architecture allow me to still get more natural-light-looking portraits for my couples if need be! Though, I always hope that the rain slows for at least a couple of moments so we can get some shots around the historic building! 🙂
The Team
The on-site venue coordinator is your point of contact throughout your planning process and on the day of so you don’t have to worry – they love making sure things go according to plan! And while they don’t offer on-site catering or DJs, they do have a vendor list of some of the top local vendors if you’re looking for recommendations and an easier wedding planning experience.
It’s one of my favorite spots in Chattanooga simply because of the history, and the grand details, and truthfully, I love ice cream, so a historic cone and machine company site? I mean, yum! Wanting to see if The Turnbull is right for you? Schedule a free tour with their team and start dreaming about your big day!
